Albuquerque Approves New Housing Projects Across Multiple Neighborhoods
City listings show developments moving from planning stages to construction at sites from Central Avenue to the west side.
How we reported this

Albuquerque is set to gain hundreds of new housing units through projects now listed in pre-construction, under construction or contract stages. The city housing portal details eight separate efforts that include affordable rentals, senior units and mixed-use sites tied to transit access.
These projects address local needs for more housing stock in established neighborhoods. Several target areas along major corridors such as Central Avenue and Coors Boulevard, where residents have long noted limited options for both market-rate and lower-cost units. The listings emphasize mixed-rate buildings that combine affordable and market units in the same development.
Projects in pre-construction phase
Four sites remain in pre-construction. Somos Apartments at 7200 Central SE will deliver 70 units total, of which 59 will be affordable. Casitas Del Camino at 112 60 NW TH is planned for 88 affordable units. West Mesa Ridge A at 701 Coors NW is listed for 128 affordable units. Uptown Connect, a joint effort between ABQ RIDE and a private developer, is described as bringing hundreds of mixed-rate rentals along with commercial space and improved transit connections in the Uptown area.
Construction and negotiation updates
Three projects have reached active construction. Calle Cuarta at 3525 4th Street NW will provide 61 affordable units with live-work spaces and ground-level retail. Route 66 Flats at 7600 Central SW lists 47 affordable units aimed at supporting transitions from homelessness. Farolito Senior Community at 10501 Central NE is under construction as dedicated senior housing. Park Central at 300 San Mateo NE remains in contract negotiation with plans for 110 units total, including 41 affordable.
Residents near these addresses can expect phased impacts over the coming months as sites move forward. The city housing portal at cabq.gov/housing-now serves as the primary public record for tracking timelines, unit counts and developer contacts for each project.
