Grassroots Networks Anchor Albuquerque Running Scene
Volunteer groups and neighborhood routes sustain a steady calendar of local races and fitness meetups.
How we reported this

Albuquerque Road Runners Club lists thirteen running and fitness events for 2026 on its calendar, with the next major gathering set for July 19 at Mesa Del Sol.
The Outlast Albuquerque race will require participants to complete a 5K loop every hour for six straight hours. That format draws runners who train together through the year on the Rio Grande Bosque Trail and at Elena Gallegos Open Space. RunFit, the nonprofit formed in 2006 to reduce childhood obesity, helps coordinate several of these events and keeps registration open for community members who want to volunteer or compete.
Weekly Loops Keep Participation Steady
Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. the Dash and Dine 5K starts at Bosque Brewing. The following evening the Brew Lab 101 group covers a three-mile circuit beginning at 6 p.m. These standing sessions introduce newcomers to routes that climb through the Sandia foothills and along the Bosque Trail at 5,312 feet elevation. The ABQ Road Runners Club posts the schedules on its site so runners can show up without prior sign-up.
July Events Tie Fitness to Local Causes
On July 26 the Lobo Cancer Challenge returns to UNM Stadium with a 5K run-walk and a stair climb that benefits the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. Organizers note the event fits into the same volunteer network that stages the Outlast Albuquerque race one week earlier. Runners can register through the club calendar or at the listed Eventbrite pages for the Rojo Grande Half Marathon on August 9.
Participants who want to join any of the listed events can check the ABQ Road Runners calendar at abqroadrunners.com/race-calendar.html or the weekly-run page maintained by Fleet Feet Albuquerque. Both sites update start times and parking details for the Bosque Brewing and UNM Stadium locations as each date approaches.
