Albuquerque High Updates Physical Requirements for 2025-26 Athletes
The athletics department posts updated requirements and full coaching staff details ahead of the 2025-26 seasons.

Albuquerque High School athletes must obtain a new sports physical dated after April 1, 2025, before they can compete in the 2025-26 school year.
The rule applies to every participant across fall, winter and spring programs at the school. Families can complete the required exam at no cost through the on-campus UNM School Based Health Center. Full coaching assignments posted
Greg Villareal serves as athletic director and can be reached at the school’s main number for any participation questions. Estevan Mares handles athletic training duties. The same page gives email contacts for every head coach and lists start dates for several teams, including football on August 4, 2025, and boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball and cross country on August 11, 2025. Winter programs begin as early as November 3, 2025, for cheer, dance, swimming and wrestling, while baseball and softball open February 2, 2026.
Powerlifting, track and field, tennis and golf round out the winter and spring schedules with their own head coaches and later start dates. All athletes must also complete the DragonFly student-athlete consent form before they can practice or play.
How families can prepare now
Tickets for home contests are available through the APS Hometown Ticketing site. An online calendar on the DragonFly athletics platform shows game and meet schedules once they are released. Parents who need the free physical should contact the UNM School Based Health Center directly at the school to book an appointment before the first practice dates arrive.
