ABQ Road Runners Host 12+ Free Community Runs Through August
Local groups host no-cost events at city parks and trails to connect runners of all levels.

The Albuquerque Road Runners Club updated its race calendar on July 9 with a string of free community runs scheduled at parks across the city this month and next.
These events come as residents look for regular ways to stay active outdoors during the summer. The club’s listings highlight recurring gatherings that require no entry fees and welcome walkers as well as runners, drawing participants from neighborhoods throughout Albuquerque.
Four Twilight Series runs anchor the July schedule. The first took place July 9 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. The second followed on July 16 at Rio Grande Park on Kit Carson SW. Two more are set for July 23 behind Sage Brush Church on Coors NW and July 30 at Alameda Open Space where Alameda meets Rio Grande. Each starts at 7:30 p.m. and is hosted by a different local group, including Running Medicine, Native Women Running, Dukes Track Club and the NB3 Foundation.
Additional Albuquerque races fill out the summer lineup
The same calendar notes several other city-based events. A color run benefiting Special Olympics New Mexico is listed for July 11 at Balloon Fiesta Park. The Rio Grande Half Marathon and 5K return August 9 at the same park. The JT 5000 is scheduled for August 16 at Expo New Mexico, with proceeds directed to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. A 5K allowing runners to bring dogs is set for September 5, and a timed loop event at Mesa Del Sol appears for September 19.
