Albuquerque High Requires New Sports Physicals by April 1, 2025

Albuquerque High athletes must secure a fresh sports physical dated after April 1, 2025, to compete in the 2025-26 school year. The requirement applies to every sport listed on the school's athletics site. The UNM School Based Health Center on campus offers the exams at no charge.

Athletic Trainer Estevan Mares handles medical support at estevan.mares@aps.edu or the same main number with extension 20331. Tickets for events are sold through the APS Hometown Ticketing portal, while schedules appear on the Dragonfly athletics site.

Dragonfly also houses the required student-athlete consent forms. Families must complete those forms before participation begins. The system covers every sport the school fields across the three seasons.

Season schedules and coaches

Fall sports open with football on August 4, 2025, under head coach Desmond Anaya. Cross country, boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball all begin August 11, 2025. Winter programs start as early as November 3, 2025, for cheer, dance, swimming and wrestling. Spring teams follow in February 2026.

Each sport lists a named head coach with an APS email address on the athletics page. Powerlifting and track and field carry separate boys and girls coaches. Golf fields teams in both fall and spring.

Interested students should first arrange the required physical at the campus health center, then register through Dragonfly and contact the listed coach for their chosen sport. Updated details remain available on the Albuquerque High athletics page at albuquerquehigh.aps.edu/athletics.
